Hi all,
A new Player is comming to the game, and with him a new character to the party. After rolling, the Nobility Trait from the Hardcover show up. They are looking for Zenith (chapter 4) and just have send a message to Celeste for reinforcements. Celeste will send the new Character with some equipment. Anyway, which do you think is the best noble family for the new character? The party are in strongh opposition with the Stormblades, so those famiies are mostly discarted. I thought make it some kind of Alek Tersival lost brother or cousin but I don't know if this can disturb the Demoskar Legacy chapter. Please, help!
Q. (Sorry for my bad english)

How about a sibling of Zenith Splintershield joining the fray at the behest of his father. He could also have the task to reinstate the Malachite Fortress as the hold of the dwarven community of Cauldron. Put this together with the shrine of Moradin in Drakthar's Way.
How about a relative from the house Navalant, having recently come back from an apprenticeship in a distant trading house. His famous uncle is unavailable and Lord Vhalantru suggests, that in order to make a name for himself he should join one of the adventuring groups in Cauldron. Since he and Todd have a growing rivalry since nearly forever, he decides to join the other group that the city has been talking about all the time.
The suggestion of Vhalantru gets the new player out of the way, as he is about to remove the Lord Mayor permanently. He also plans to take care of the different adventuring groups in Cualdron, so the offer to join one of these groups will solve two problems as time (and his plans) moves forward.
You can have the player meeting with his Uncle, welcoming him back to Cauldron and asking him, what he wants to do. Does he want to enter the family business, or does he want to venture out on his own for a while (Severen Navalant thinks, that his nephew will make his own trading enterprise, not opting for adventuring of course). Vhalantru gives the character the idea of adventuring, as a way to make a name for himself, independant of anything his Uncle does or represents. This should be a big lure for this young man/woman...

I had a player tha ran a noble in my Shackled City campaign. He actually had his own minor house and was relatively unheard of when the campaign began. However, over the course of the campaign I let him build up reputation and stature so that by the time Foundations of Flame came around he became the new Lord Mayor of Cauldron. It was also a lot more rewarding for him to build up his house from the ground up.

I suggest you rethink the Stormblade's families. Because if the PC tried to join the Stormblades and they rejected him or offered him a subordinate role, (or he is a Good guy and finds the Stormblades despicable) then he could try joining the PC's party.
You see, having him be a Stormblade sibbling would complicate things for everyone. And when I say "complicate things," I mean "create fascinating, dynamic, and memorable roleplaying opportunities."

We have a noble character in my current group and he is Cora's little brother. It really does bring alot of interesting RP activities to the table, especially since he is a rogue who specializes with a rapier. There is alot of conflict with him, between him wanting to seperate himself from her name, since everyone tends to see him as either the Lathenmire boy or someone who is just following in his sisters footsteps, and also the fact that he has to admit he has learned alot from her.
A great deal of fun can be had by having those who are thinking of giving the group some task ask if he is Cora's little brother and when they notice his weapon ask if she trained him.
And of course during one of our last sessions he picked up a +1 rapier from skie. She had to regal him with the tale of how it was sold to her by a firey haired swordswoman.

Lady Ophella KnowlernWhat about the sibling or cousin of Ophella Knowlern (Foundations of Fire)? She is both beautiful and has a heart of gold. She lives in Hollowsky alone.
Lord Vhalantru
A more dangerous suggestion could be the cousin of Vhalantru or at least a cousin of the Vhalantru who Orbus made a lovely suit out of. Perhaps the real Vhalantru was part of a important noble family from Sasserine who stumbled upon a cache of beholderkin which Orbus was one of the leaders of decades ago.
After learning all he could from the unfortunate noble, Orbus slew the real Vhalantru before assuming his form to better inflitrate Cauldron noble society as he had been ordered to by the caches new allies; the Cagewrights. Your noble character's family has been in search of the real Vhalantru for years and have recently discovered the whereabouts of a prominant noble matching Vhalantru's description.
Perhaps the real noble was known by a different name or Orbus simply assumed the complete identity altogether.
The noble character would have a few memories and/or heard a few stories of the real Vhalantru and initially Orbus takes the noble character under his wing. As time goes on though the character will observe more and more discrepencies and suspicious behavior from their long lost uncle until the big surprise in Chapter 7/8.
Lord Mayor
Following a similiar theme, the noble could be related to the Lord Mayor. This would pose a great series of Side treks as the character attempts to find what happened to their relative once he disappears. They may even track down his past movements to Sasserine to find out more about Lord Vhalantru and uncover his cache (same idea as above)etc.
In any event good luck with whatever you come up with.
