What does the Barbarian Dedication instinct actually give you?

Rules Discussion

it says "Choose an instinct as you would if you were a barbarian. You have that instinct for all purposes and become bound by its anathema, but you don’t gain any of the other abilities it grants."

I'm probably just being dumb, but what abilities does it and doesn't it grant from the instinct?

"You become trained in Athletics; if you were already trained in Athletics, you instead become trained in a skill of your choice. You become trained in barbarian class DC. You can use the Rage action (page 84)."

This is what you gain ability wise at first.

You gain no abilities from your instinct until you pick the level 6 "instinct ability" feat.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Essentially you have the instinct for purposes of prerequisites, so you have access to things like animal skin, or dragon's rage breath albeit at level 12.

I see now, thanks guys. I was overthinking it.
