Will Tar-Baphon ever get killed off for real?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

So, as of 2e he is back and rules the Isle Of Terror. Which makes me wonder if we will ever get to permanently kill him, of if he is like the Joker from Batman (i.e, he's the most iconic villain, so he'll never die.)

I'd bet that he'll be an end boss for an AP featuring the version of the Mythic Rules we eventually get in PF2...so probably in 5 years or thereabouts.

Whether he dies in that confrontation is probably gonna be ambiguous (and based on PC decisions), but I'd imagine you'll get to imprison him again for several more thousand years at the very least.

I think they're going to want to have one big scary "no-go" zone in the core region that the game takes place on. After all, Tar-Baphon waking up takes the place of the Worldwound getting closed. So they're going to have to figure out what the next thing that's going to go terribly wrong before they put the Whispering Tyrant back in his box.

I like to imagine this as the guy whisper-muttering to himself, “I’m giving beverages I want to, ‘cause it’s safe and cozy; not because they beat me or anything!” as he slinks back to his box to sulk and eventually fail and become a demilich.
