How do I get long term wild shape?

All I can find is Perfect Form Control (but who the heck ever plays at that level?) and Insect Shape, which says "Whenever you use wild shape to polymorph into the non-flying insect form listed in pest form, the duration is 24 hours instead of 10 minutes."

I think I'd much rather be a cat then a bug. What are my other options for a long term wild shape or polymorph effect? Also, is there any way for me to talk or cast spells in wild shape, like there was in First Edition?

While I don't think there's any way to cast while polymorphed, there's nothing stopping you from refocusing while in wild shape. So you can take form control, spend 10 minutes of your hour to refocus, and just cast it again as soon as the spell ends.

The Exchange

*edit* there is a blanket exclusion of spell casting while in battle form unless specified. The only way would be if you could get a form which specifically allows casting spells (just getting the Manipulate ability such as from Dragon Form is insufficient), Even using the Avatar to get Nethys only gives you a raw magic blast and no magic ability

There's that at least. Thanks, Salamileg! :)

Hopefully the rest will come in future releases.

If and when they add a "cast while polymorphed" feature, I hope it's a Moment of Clarity-esque feat that's exclusive to druids. Just adding an extra action to casting would probably be fairly balanced.

The Exchange

I would be ok with never being able to cast while polymorphed. The current polymorph allows you the flexibility to be either a reasonably good melee combatant OR a caster but not both at the same time.

Providing you the ability to become a reasonably good melee combatant with good AC/breath weapon AND a caster at the same time may be too powerful. Dragons made good gishes I always said.

Aside - Is holding a charge still a thing in PF2 (ex. Shocking Grasp). I was pretty sure that I read spells which were not discharge on the turn cast were lost but I cannot find it now

Holding a charge is no longer a thing insofar as I'm aware.

Agreed. I've dug into the rules as well and I can't find any language that says you hold onto a spell if you miss with it, for example. Now you cast your spell as soon as you spend the actions, all in one go.

Most touch range spells don't need an attack roll anymore though. Shocking Grasp seems to be a notable exception.
