Tempest-Sun Redirection

Rules Discussion

The Tempest-Sun Redirection feat states that it helps protect allies, but it only seems to offer protection to the caster. Am I missing something?

Assume you cast fireball and target an area. There are two hostile targets and two allies are in the blast area. You can reduce the damage to your allies by the spell level and reduce the damage to a likely attacker.

Thus, you protect your allies by lessening the party killing damage and protect yourself from the one hostile you lessened (not saying it is useful but at least this supports the statement)

Gotcha, thank you!
