Hello,
I am interesting in trying out SFS as it looks really fun. I just want to make sure I understand the rules.
1) As a player do I need to register my character online under my account if I am playing at a home game or game store? Or is that used only for online play?
2) For player records, would I just need to keep copies of the chronicle sheets? Or do I have to register every session online?
3) When DMing a home game would I still need to go online, create an event, and report every session? Or does that only apply to online games?
4) I am confused about the campaign mode. So the characters do not need to follow organized play rules during the adventure path, but as soon as it's over they have to convert back to being SFS legal?
Thank you in advance for any replies!

Just to clarify:
There are 'Society games' and 'all other games'
Any game can be run either face-to-face or online. The method you choose to run the game has no impact on whether it's a 'Society game' or not.
If you aren't playing 'Society games' you don't need to register your character.
If you are playing in a 'Society game', whether it's online or face-to-face at home or face-to-face at a game store or a convention, you need to register your character.
Society games can be played either in regular mode or in 'campaign' mode. In either case, they are Society games and your character needs to be registered.

2) Generally the GM or game organiser reports each session.
4) In campaign mode, you use separate characters that can be built and played in any way the GM allows. Their completion of the adventure path volume provides rewards that apply to your SFS characters, similar to those that you get for a typical SFS scenario.

Hello new person
We have a fan made guide here that gives a nice overview of SFS.
1) As a player do I need to register my character online under my account if I am playing at a home game or game store? Or is that used only for online play?
You need a PFS number. 1234567. If you don't have one someone at the group should be able to get you one.
It would be easier for the recordkeeping if you had a character registered. Your first SFS character would be 1234567-701. Your second character would be 1234567-702.
SFS doesn't distinguish between online play and store play mostly.
2) For player records, would I just need to keep copies of the chronicle sheets? Or do I have to register every session online?
Registering the game is done by the DM. You need to keep the chronicles, because they have information that the DM doesn't record.
3) When DMing a home game would I still need to go online, create an event, and report every session? Or does that only apply to online games?
You'd create one event like Mathias's home games and report them there. If you don't have regular internet access or something I don't think it would hurt anything if you didn't report them.
4) I am confused about the campaign mode. So the characters do not need to follow organized play rules during the adventure path, but as soon as it's over they have to convert back to being SFS legal?
Campaign mode is for adventure paths only. The plot has to be generally followed, but you could play Dead suns as Dead Buns: Bunnies and burrows if you wanted to. When its over you could hop into regular SFS with SFS legal characters: the campaign gives you credit as if you'd played a pregen.
The alternative is say, you have a character thats a not allowed race or an overpowered option hopping into campaign mode and hopping out with the homebrew I DEVOUR THE SUN feat.
