Cleric Holy symbol, > Favored weapon. question.

Rules Discussion

So I am running HK and the war priest in the party is a Cleric of Sarenrae. He is wearing medium armor caries a shield and wields her favored weapon the Scimitar.

Now I see that is her favored weapon. Is this also her holy symbol? I cannot find any references to what the various gods holy symbols are.

I ask as naturally the cleric/war priest is in combat or near the combat holding both the shield and scimitar and casting heals/spells. His claim is that his holy symbol for her is the scimitar.

What is the consensus here? Does wielding the Gods 'favored' weapon count as using the holy symbol to forgo materials?

If not this means the cleric in this case must stop holding the scimitar to cast spells holding the holy symbol up to do so. Is this correct?

The Scimitar is NOT her holy symbol. There are plenty of sources from 1e that show their holy symbol. That isn't important tho. What is important is that a holy symbol is a specific separate item that must be interacted with for spells with material components for a cleric.

While I am not sure the 2e crb specifically states what most deitys holy symbols are. The images on page 437 of the crb are the holy symbol of the gods presented there.

However a cleric can take THIS feat to use a shield or weapon as a holy symbol.
