Summoned bloodseeker

Rules Discussion

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A summoned bloodseeker attaches [1 action] then blood drains as second action so enemy is drained 1. Next round, assuming caster sustains, is 2 auto blood drains?

The enemy does not keep advancing drain beyond 1, right? This summoned creature just keeps drinking twice each combat round?

All that right?

Yep. I see this has been here a while, but I just tried this little guy out and he seems to be a pretty solid level 1 spell. He can appear at range and with flanking, and if he attaches it’s sustain a spell for 2d4, it heals if they hit it but didn’t kill it (or just makes it harder to kill), and puts drained 1 on the enemy (as you point out, it never gets higher). And if they kill it after it attaches it’s 1 persistent bleeding (and they spent actions to do that)

I actually like conjuration in this edition - you spend three actions but get two back from the minion. Augment Summon is easy and actually really useful, too (+1 to everything).

The only drawback is you really have to keep your summons at your top end spell slots or whatever you bring will get stomped, but even at lower levels the creatures you can bring are damned useful even if they do nothing but take space, flank, and absorb actions to get rid of.

Some of the dragons are really nasty because they start making real nice trade offs like getting fireballs for two actions, or 3 attacks for two actions, etc

Yep. The Drained condition from Blood Drain does not progress past 1.

Quote:
Blood Drain Single Action Requirements The bloodseeker is attached to a creature. Effect The bloodseeker uses its proboscis to drain blood from the creature it’s attached to. This deals 1d4 damage, and the bloodseeker gains temporary Hit Points equal to the damage dealt. A creature that has its blood drained by a bloodseeker is drained 1 until it receives healing (of any kind or amount).

You can keep dealing the damage, and gaining tempHP (which don't stack), and it'll basically just be automatic 2d4 and a small hp buffer.

I thought I remembered this post. It was 1 of a double post. The other one got a reply from yours truly.
