Casting a spell

Rules Discussion

Hello fellow Pathfinder. I m here to ask something about casting spells in the 2nd edition.

First. Casting a spell do cause an
opportunity attack?

Secondo. If hit while casting a spell. The caster must throw a dice on concentration or something like that?

Thanks for the help

First of all, note that only a few classes and monsters have attacks of opportunity. It's no longer something anyone can do.

There are also other reactions, that work similar to AoO, but might have another trigger condition.

The "classic" AoO, like the one the fighter gets at level 1, is triggered by movement or manupulate actions. Spells with Somatic and/or material components have the manipulate trait an trigger AoOs. A spell that's verbal only does NOT trigger AoO because it has the concentration trait instead of the manipulate trait.

Being damaged while casting does not cause a spell to be disrupted. A damaging efect needs to say that it can disrupt actions to do so. Attack of Opportunity will only disrupt on a critical hit.

Thx for explaining blave. It s really helpful.
