Pixie Gang question

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

In the core set the pixie gang card reads “on check to defeat, add the number of other local characters.” I thought this meant add to your roll, but another player thought it increased the difficulty. Which is it?

I believe that it means that you add that number to your roll (therefore increasing your chances of success), but I admit it stumped me as well.

My main reasoning is that I'm certain it would have been templated very differently if it was meant to be increasing the difficulty. Like "The difficulty to defeat is increased by the number of other local characters".

As far is (IMHO) I know,
Anytime the sentence reads "... add ... to your check/roll" it means it increases the chances of success.
Anytime the sentence reads "... the difficulty ... is increase by ..." it means it decreases the chances of success.
Why should it be different?

Correct.
