Official Spoiler Ban Period?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I was enjoying reading the "Adventure Path Results" in the Lost Omens World guide and it made me realize how abrupt it might be for many players who didn't play through most of the APs watching Golarion suddenly shift ten years. I also noticed on my facebook feed that Disney had implemented "spoiler bans" on their movies.

Can we get an official period of time after which we can freely spoil the signficant and world changing events of an AP?

We should still use spoiler tags when we can. And we should avoid spoiling specifics of the adventure itself. But having a point in which wikis can use "spoiler" material and players can feel free to discuss major world changes might be a boon to the community, even if the period is "5 years" or "when we say so in a locked post somewhere."

Posted in PFS because major events in Scenarios can use a similiar system.

This is one reason why I thought having separate Forums for 1st and 2nd Edition was best.

I can see that, but going forward should we wait until a theoretical 3rd edition before we can start talking about the longterm ramifications of Age of Ashes?

...I have a feeling I made some developer shiver-cry penning the words "third edition" right now.

These forums are meant to discuss everything that is happening, in, during and outside of games. I can see waiting one week so the people who feel the need to read it themselves have time to read through publications, but in general if you don't want to get spoilered I think it would be best to simply not go to this forum.

I don't even know what the "Age of Ashes" is.

Staying away from the Forums isn't a viable option. This company and this Campaign practically requires people to visit the Forums for clarifications, updates, product releases, GM advice, questions and answers.

If they're not going to separate the Forums (which it's obvious they're not), then people are just going to have to deal with spoilers.

The Hardcover book Adventurer's Guide had spoilers for the Hell's Rebels AP. Both were 1st edition and released about a year and half apart from each other. So, I don't really expect Paizo to pay much attention to spoilers.
