Pantheons

Rules Discussion

I swore I saw something about a Pantheon mechanic for characters who follow multiple gods, but can’t remember where. There’s a reference to a syncretic faith in the new AP that reminded me of it. Any help?

Clerics are dedicated to a single deity. Oracles are going to potentially be dedicated to a pantheon.

That's their current thinking.

There was mention of Clerics having a pantheon, but ultimately PCs had to choose one god as primary. So you mechanically have the same benefits & limits, but have the story freedom of serving a broader cause.
That was tied to two different levels of belief/dedication as game terms and got a bit messy, as those terms weren't in books (AFAIK).
(I can't recall the words used.)

There was speculation there might be pantheons as their own entities coming w/ a set of domains, etc. like a deity (but in many bodies). I haven't seen any follow up to that at all, not that it would've been on my radar. Though if Mr. Lynch is correct, there might be a Cleric variant based on the Oracle's paradigm.
It'd be nice to flesh out which deities were tied to which others, but I'm not sure their origins play a large role in modern Golarion (other than the Egyptian/Ossirian ones remaining strongly linked.)

Starfinder has a very important syncretic faith, so Paizo does weave in that aspect of religion. We'll see if that effects PF2 rules.

In 1e there were rules for pantheons in "Faiths and Philosophies" we might see something in Lost Omen Gods and Magic.

I think Luis Loza said they'd explore pantheons in Gods and Magic.
