Halfling Barbarian - Possibly mounted

Advice

So me and my friend had this idea of making two halflings, which were twins or brothers. Our idea was that we both in combat would ride in on our mounts, and then jump off and start fighting with greataxes and our mounts would assist us.

So i thought that maybe i would take the mounted fury barbarian archetype. And then the boon companion feat to make the most out of the mount.

So my question is, would this be viable, and if so do you have advice, or ideas?

(PS the reason for barbarian was for rage, so we are pretty fixated on barbarian, unless there is another class which gives rage. And yes i know that the halfling isnt the best race for barbarians, but we want to do it for the flavour.)

Have you thought of using the Bloodragers and Bloodrider archetype instead. I only bring it up because the bonus to Charisma makes the Bloodrager slightly more attractive to Halflings.

I cant go magic, the short explanation is that when u use magic, and spell like things and supernatural abilities, things go wrong

No magic, but you want some assistance in Battle.

The Cavalier has some interesting options that allow you to make use of your mount and charisma more offensively.

The Beast Rider gives you a wolf for an option, and later other creatures.

The Ghost Rider just is a cool theme.

And for even more wildness, the Saurian Rider. It does away with Lances and stuff and gives you a huge dinosaur.

Oh, and if your friend is a cleric, the Saurian Domain gives some cool perks.

As i Said before No magic, Celtic uses magic and so does ghost rider, and i really want to be able to rage

It's a tossup to me whether you do the Mounted Fury or Mad Dog Barbarian. Technically Mad Dog gives you Boon Companion and quasi-Outflank for free compared to the Mounted Fury, while Mounted Fury gives you Extra Rage, a +2 STR morale bonus when you are raging (although morale bonuses are fairly common so that might see some overlap), and several rage powers. So up to you.

Depending on your stats, Hunter can also be effective with VMC Barbarian. Basically you'll give up your 3rd level feat at first and gain a limited rage (CON+level but you can take Extra Rage). If your first level feat is Combat Expertise, you can take Pack Flanking at level 5 and now you're always flanking with your animal companion as long as you're adjacent to it and threatening the same opponent...or riding your animal companion. Charging in with a lance does double damage and then just drop your lance and rock out with your axe out...Power Attack or Extra Rage would have to wait until level 7 but you're getting somewhere!

Can someone explain to me the difference between ferocious Mount, and ferocious beast - to me they Seem to do the same
