Changing Region of Origin

Is it legal, especially in Pathfinder Society play, to freely change a character's Region of Origin after Level 1, as long as no mechanical benefit relied upon the original region (including knowledge of regional languages)? What about if a character is created without a region noted on the character sheet, and then a region is later added after level 1?

Thanks. I've now done that. I thought maybe it might be touched on in the retraining rules or something, which is why I asked it more generally.
