Let's say I have a 1st-level wizard who takes a specialist school, gaining a pool of 1 focus point.
Then he takes Hand of the Apprentice as his 1st-level wizard feat.
Does said wizard have only one focus point to use on either power, or does he have 2 focus points to use on either power?
My reading suggests the second solution, but it seems too good to be true.

You only have one focus pool, see page 302.
You can cast any focus spell from the pool, you don't need to track the different pools.
Be sure to read carefully though.
a) some things give you a pool, these increase an existing pool by 1 if you already had one. (as just described)
b) some things give you a new pool if you _didn't_ have one (they are explicitly called out in their feat description)
c) some things add 1 point to your pool (always have a class feature earlier feat that gave the pool in the first place)

I know there's only one pool. And both the school specialization say that I gain a pool with one focus point. Neither say that I increase my pool by one.
So the end result is I have only one point in my pool, that I can use for either ability. Then spend 10 minutes recharging it between battles by studying my spellbook.
Although... looking more closely at Hand of the Apprentice, I now realize that it's only available to Universalist wizards. My bad.
So my question concerns an invalid choice. <sigh>
