Various types of attack bonuses

Rules Discussion

Hi all,

Could someone please provide a list of all the various types of bonuses one can stack with their attack rolls?

Sure!

You get a base number based on Proficiency (which is usually level plus somewhere between 2 and 8) plus either Str, Dex, or spellcasting stat for casters.

Then you can add one Item bonus, one Status bonus, and one Circumstance bonus. You may use the highest bonus in each category.

That's it.

Thanks! Would you happen to know all the different types of negative penalties one can stack on an enemies attack rolls?

I believe the types are identical, though Item penalties are gonna be a rarity. Most conditions inflict Status penalties, for example.

Aside from proficiency, there are exactly three different types of bonuses: circumstance, status, and item. Conversely, penalties have types, too, now, and there are the same three types as for bonuses. Bonuses of the same type do not stack, and penalties of the same type of not stack (you only suffer the worst one). You can however have both a bonus and a penalty of the same type. In addition, there can be a few untyped penalties, that are always added it, such as the penalty for taking multiple attacks on your turn, or for shooting beyond the first range increment of your weapon.

That's it. No other types of bonuses or penalties are to be expected.
