Wondering if there is interest in playing through a very short demo game of Trail of Cthulhu. I'd be using the convention demo "Ritual Pursuits", which is very brief and serves as an introduction to the game system. Trail of Cthulhu uses the GUMSHOE system from Pelgrane Press, which is easy to learn. The setting is pretty much identical to a standard Call of Cthulhu game, except that is is set in the 1930s instead of the 1920s. Pregens are available if you don't have access to the rules.

Yay, two people! I'll wait around to see if we can generate a bit more interest. As it's both the summer and a national holiday in the US (well, yesterday was), I'm guessing that things are a bit slow right now.
As I have stated, the GUMSHOE system is quite simple and can easily be picked up in under 30 minutes. If you have never played before, I would suggest you visit the system's page over at Pelgrane Press' website: HERE.
In particular, I would read the documents "A summary of the GUMSHOE system rules" and "GUMSHOE 101 for players". That should give you a good general introduction.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I'll give it a shot. I've always been fond of Call of Cthulhu. Never played the Gumshoe version.
Cool, cool. It plays very similarly to a Call of Cthulhu game, but instead of rolling d100 you only roll d6.
The main idea behind GUMSHOE is this: in an investigative type game, you need the PCs to get the clues so they can move the story forward. In GUMSHOE, as long as someone in the party has the correct investigative ability (such as History, Interrogation, or Forensics), you get the clue. No roll needed. Every other type of roll is resolved on just a d6. It's that simple.

Since we found enough interested players, I've begun an official Recruitment Thread.
