Question about a theme ability and a feat

-The theme is the Tinker form: Starfinder #15: Sun Divers pg. 45 the ability is there 6th level Durable Crafting which does,
Your mastery of the materials you craft with has given you special insight into solid construction principles. When determining the hardness, Hit Points, and saving throws of an item you have crafted, treat its item level as if it were 4 higher instead of 2 higher. It takes you a quarter of the normal time to repair an item you crafted.
-The Feat is Barricade: Source Starfinder Core Rulebook pg. 155 it's a big block of text to copy so I'm going to sum it up you can make temporary and not particularly durable partial cover against attacks with line of effect that pass through it.
-My question is do the feat and the theme ability work with each other to make a more durable cover and if so how effective would they be? Would it be a waste to take the theme and feat to build for this?


You aren't actually crafting the barricade as an item. It's not even an item, it just has hardness and hitpoints as if it were an item at a level equal to half your ranks in engineering.

Even if it did work? I'm not sure it's all that much better.

I might be able to get my GM to say the work together I'm just starting to wonder if it's even a good combo to sink your theme into and my 1st level feat. the barricade Additionally, once it or a creature adjacent to it is hit by an attack, the barricade collapses at the beginning of your turn in 1d4 rounds (unless the barricade is destroyed completely by the attack) so if they do work all it would do is make the barricade more durable for if the enemies were shoting at it in stead of in going down in 1 hit it may take few hits which doesnt matter if the person using it as cover gets hit the barricade fails 1d4 rounds. when i 1st got excited by the combo i hadn't read that part i guess.

Im making a SRO Mechanic and couldn't decided on the theme tinker or Roboticist thinking we he's a mechanic those seemed like the best themes at the time then i had the thought maybe his original design might have been a security guard or something along those lines on Aballon before he developed true artificial intelligence and free will. so im not usre if either of those 2 themes may work I'd like to still go Mechanic and us it as his way of learning about him self sense his birth the AI which I'm thinking Drone would be his attempt to make him self a son or just made a less advanced copy of himself which he can watch become more then its base programing and maybe lean more about its self the (SRO) not the drone so now I'm again stuck on theme
and build for mech tricks and feats? I know i dont want to do the Exocortex my brother who is in the starfinder group I play in is doing a Mechanic that went Drone we hit level 2 In the 1st book of the Deadsun AP and said he didn't like the drone so are GM who is also my older brother let him switch to the Exocortex and he just loving it so I thought if my current character dies (a human Envoy BTW) I'd like to do my mechanic SRO with the Drone just dont know beyond what I said up above I'd like to try and build for? any Ideas? would help alot I'd lie to say there's no rush but were still new to Starfinder and lost are mystic right at the end of deadsun book 1 so I've no clue who's safe or not kinda the nature of the game right :-) sorry for rambling its 5am here and i should have gone to sleep acouple of hours ago but had the SRO Mechanic on my mind:-) OK bye for sure now.


Well, in the times that you've played, has your GM produced battle maps with a lack of cover? If so, have people been getting shot because of the lack of cover?

If you answer these yes, then sure, grab barricade. If you answered those no, then barricade is one solution to a problem you don't seem to have, so take a different feat.
