Curse of Withering and d4s

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

So I suffered the Curse of Withering. And my highest die on a check is a d4. (Yes, that's correct). What happens? The card says:
"While displayed, during your check, when you assemble your dice, replace all of your highest-size dice with the same number of the next lower-size dice."
There are no lower-sized dice. So, my options:
1. Roll d4s. Those are the lowest-sized dice and the Curse cannot reduce them further.
2. I can't make the check. Effectively, my dice are d0s.
3. Some other interpretation...

d4s are the lowest you can go, so I would play it that you lucked out and you just have to roll your d4s.

Option 1. You ignore impossible instructions in PACG, and using a lower size of die than d4 is impossible.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

When it was asked a while back, it was suggested that you're welcome to flip coins instead of rolling, but the official answer is stick with the d4s.

I have a d3 for JUST such an occasion!

But yeah, d4 is the lowest the curse can send you. :)
