Can you stack Improved Combat Manuever (trip) with the Apprehending fusion?

The Apprehending fusion says this:

The apprehending fusion causes the weapon to grow spikes and overwrought iron fixtures, as befits its use by the Hellknights. When an apprehending weapon hits an enemy, you can activate the fusion as a reaction to perform a trip combat maneuver against that target with the same attack bonus as for the weapon attack. Additionally, the target must succeed at a Fortitude saving throw (DC = 10 + half the weapon’s item level + the ability score modifier you apply to attack rolls with the weapon) or be unable to cast spells or spell-like abilities for 1 round. Once the weapon has used this ability, it cannot use it again until you take a 10-minute rest to regain Stamina Points.

Note the bolded part. Does that mean I don't get to add the bonus from my Improved Combat Maneuver feat, since I didn't get it on the initial attack?

Also, what does "hit" mean? Does it have to be an attack to deal damage? Or could I attempt a maneuver (say, disarm for example), "hit" with the disarm attempt, then activate the fusion to trip?

Unfortunately, the way it is worded, you can't use your Improved Combat Maneuver feat, which is silly in my opinion.
Hit means you must make an attack, I don't think combat maneuver "hits", I've never seen this wording for them. But it doesn't have to deal damage, just to hit.

Yeah I don't think you get to apply the bonus, due to that wording. The number is already determined. It's kinda like shield slam in Pathfinder like that.

On the plus side, although you can only do this once between rests, you get to make the decision after you see your dice result so you can just decide to only trigger it when you roll really high.

I'm pretty sure it's 'roll again with the same bonus applied to the dice', not 'use the same result'.

I would echo that you wouldn't get the bonus though.

As far as using a disarm (which may be the improved version) to trigger a trip...

A combat maneuver is defined as a melee attack roll, therefore it hits, therefore you can attempt a trip at the same bonus you use for disarm.

I'm assuming that combat maneuvers are made with the weapon of course.

Actually if you're rolling again, then I think we do get into a greyer area. I mean, literally speaking, yeah you don't get the bonus. That also means that any one-time bonus you got to the initial attack would also apply to the second attack (like aid another).

Mark me down for "the writer probably meant something different than what he actually wrote".

A combat maneuver is resolved via a melee attack roll. But the result is different than an attack. Nowhere in combat maneuvers it speaks about "hit", and in attack roll, it says "hit and deal damage". So, I beg to disagree :)

In my opinion, it's GM's call.
