2e and Core

Is there going to be a "Core" vs "Standard" distinction in 2E as well?

Sigh. That will make me very sad.

Unless there's core from the outset, we'll end up in the same situation we were with 1e where "folks who enjoy playing just from core" will have invested (months, years) in a 2e character, and then when core is inevitably needed/wanted, those "heretofore core only characters in an all-source world" will be shut out of the core-only path.

I actually hope the CORE concept is scraped entirely. Its a headache from an organizer perspective and it seems to create more problems than it fixes. I've lost count how many times mixed tables would up screwing with a character's eligibility, people upset about not being able to find CORE players to sit with, etc. I know some people like it and have no problem. I'm only speaking from my personal experience that its more trouble than its worth. YMMV

I have to agree with Bob, I played and ran some CORE games, but they are really hard to schedule since and also exclude a lot of players (everyone with a character that is not CORE).

Most of the CORE tables I have seen have been scheduled to get a particular item or chronicle boon or another reward.

While there is a distinct audience for a simpler game, I fear that for the purposes of organized play they are just a tiny minority.

I have talked to local players that eventually felt overwhelmed by the number of options, but short of curating the players I place at those tables, my hands are tied.

From an organizer's point of view, I already offer tables in two languages, for 3-4 systems and considering my limited resources, CORE is just not an option.
