Flying and falls

Rules Questions

Hello, what happens with a character that flies, and falls on a occupied square ?. I have an alchemist who has got wings, and a caster have paralyzed him by flying over an enemy's square. What happens in that case?
Thank you.

Since the alchemist depends on wings to fly, the alchemist falls, taking 1d6 points of lethal damage per 10 feet fallen, to a maximum of 20d6 points of damage at 200 or more feet. Then, if the alchemist isn't able to share a space with the square's original occupant, the alchemist is shunted to the closest legal square.

Thx.

Also the gm may adjudicate fall damage to the person you are falling on in they so choose.

There's no rules for falling onto other creatures, so that'd be entirely GM fiat (but no less important, of course). There are rules for damaging creatures by purposely dropping objects onto creatures; that requires a ranged touch attack, and the victim gets a Reflex save for half damage. The damage inflicted is dependent on the object's size and density, the height of the object (less than 30 feet = half damage), and GM discretion.

I suppose if the caster was attempting to time the resolution of their spell such that the alchemist would fall on a particular creature, that might constitute "dropping an object" for these purposes. I'd definitely impose a penalty to the ranged touch attack for such an imprecise approach, and on a hit I'd inflict the same amount on the alchemist instead of the usual falling damage (again, using the "falling object on creature" rules in lieu of standard falling creature rules).

Per Falling:

Creatures that fall take 1d6 points of damage per 10 feet fallen, to a maximum of 20d6. Creatures that take lethal damage from a fall land in a prone position.

I thought there was a clause that allowed a standing person to share a space with a prone person. I could not find that.

Per Paralyzed:
A paralyzed character is frozen in place and unable to move or act. A paralyzed character has effective Dexterity and Strength scores of 0 and is helpless, but can take purely mental actions. A winged creature flying in the air at the time that it becomes paralyzed cannot flap its wings and falls.

Per Ending Your Movement:
You can’t end your movement in the same square as another creature unless it is helpless.

Since you are helpless, and in another's square, they are allowed to be in the same square as you.

Per Accidentally Ending Movement in an Illegal Space:
Sometimes a character ends its movement while moving through a space where it’s not allowed to stop. When that happens, put your miniature in the last legal position you occupied, or the closest legal position, if there’s a legal position that’s closer.
This doesn't work well, since there is no last legal position to occupy to go back to [i.e. you don't hover 5' up]. It does suggest allowing you to be shifted 5' to an open square.

Since being helpless in your square allows another to end up there, I think it is fine for you to be the one that goes to that square instead.
