It seems the purchase price of this item is 2800 and the crafting price is listed as 1250. I am guessing one of those is wrong but didn't see anything addressing this with a few google searches, so I figured I'd see if any of you fine people know the answer. Is it:
1. Actual price of 2500
2. Crafting price of 1400
3. Some weird exception you can craft for less than 50%
It seems to be a misprint in ultimate combat since archives of nethys shows the same thing
unforunately, the item creation rules don't help. I made an attempt at it and came up with a market price of 2,200gp which falls short of even the 2,500gp price.
my cost analysis
Resistance Bonus +1 = 1x1x1,000
5/day Fangs bonus (based on alter self) = 2,000x3x2x2x(5/100)
1,000 + 1,200 = 2,200
IMO you should probably just treat the crafting cost as 1,400, though to be fair while wrong it's a small enough difference that in the grand scheme of things using the printed value instead probably doesn't matter. Since you're talking about a difference of only 150gp which is pretty negligible when it comes to crafting magic items.
On a side note, I'm not sure why the item has a listed caster level of 9th. None of the effects (in the way they are being utilized) or spells would require a 9th level spell caster. Not that it makes that big of a difference since item caster level only matters for setting the DC of the craft check to make the item and these DCs are already super easy to make.
Yeah, normally I'd just write the difference off as insignificant. The only reason it really came up in this case is that I'm doing a level 3 one shot. One of the players is taking craft wonderous items and is already trying to come in with 2x as much wealth as anyone else(I realize there is guidance against this and informed him of such). But in the meantime 150gp is actually a moderate amount of money in this case.
