PACS Open at GenCon: How does scheduling work?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

Hello All.

I'm looking to try the PACS Open for the first time this year at Gen Con. I've signed up for a round 1 slot. There are a number of round 2 slots, some of which work with my schedule and some that don't. Both round 3 slots are available for me.

Can anyone who has participated in the past, or anyone involved in organizing, share some insights on how the scheduling for round 2 works? Is it flexible? Does it depend on when you played round 1? Do teams advance together? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks!

Teams advance together. If you advance you then in the past you got notified via text (you provided a phone number on sign up). You then can let them know your slot preference but they may or may not be able to accommodate every teams request. At that point I'm not sure how they handled it if a team couldn't make it, and things may be different under different HQ ACG staff.

Hi Dan! I'm in charge of the PACS Open this year!

Advancement is done by teams. When you fill out your scoresheet for Round 1, you're going to talk about which slots on Saturday you are available for Round 2. Once I know which teams have advanced to Round 2, I'll spend some time on Friday night making a schedule that can suit everyone, and then text teams that advanced letting them know when they should show up.

Thanks lammars for the info. =) That certainly helps with planning. Good luck running the Open, it sounds like a lot of work.

And thanks Race Dorsey for your input as well.

One of the last times I played PACG was PaizoCon 2017...

And despite being up against Tyler Beck and Ron Lundeen in the finals we pulled out a win.

I'm ready for my triumphant return at GenCon this year...
