Hulu Orders Live-Action Ghost Rider and Helstrom TV Series

The article mentions they are going with the Robbie Reyes version of the character. I sincerely hope its the version they used in Agents of SHIELD, and they keep Gabriel Luna in the role.

It's confirmed now that Gabriel Luna is reprising his role, but there are mixed signals on if this is going to be an alternative take or not.

Well hopefully it will be at least something dark and gritty, especially since the Son of Satan/Damien Hellstrom. I guess we'll wait and see.

Kind of looks like how Netflix focused on the street level crime fighting, the Hulu shows (with the exception of the existing Runaways) might be leaning into the supernatural side of Marvel

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I really hope they keep him as the same version from Agents of Shield. Even if they never reference that part of his past, as long as they don't contradict anything, and therefore leave the door open to connections in the future, I'd be happy.

Definitely glad they stuck with Luna though, he did a great job in AoS.

I hate AoS, but I LOVE the new Ghost Rider. I'll check this out.

Well Ghost Rider got cancelled before it got out of the gate, but Helstrom is coming October 16th.

Full trailer is out today.

Not sure I cared much for the trailer since neither Damian nor his sis look much like the comic book counterparts. But we'll see when it comes out.

Having never heard of either before, I thought it looked promising. Also, it could be that the evolve their look throughout the season to look more like their comic book version.

Joel,

I've been following the Hellstrom clan since I'm into the supernatural elements of Marvel. Ghost Rider, Hellstrom, Strange, etc.

So, did anyone watch Helstrom? I found it confusing and convoluted. It felt like the whole show had an identity crisis. I thought the acting skills of Sydney Lemmon as Ana and Alain Uy as Chris Yen were pretty decent. I don't know about how they humanized Ana in the last 2 episodes or gave her "all the same powers" as her brother, but I never read the comics so maybe that tracks.

The actual story just seemed slapped together. Maybe it would make more sense if they'd gotten a second season. This whole idea that

Spoiler:
"demons" can NEVER be destroyed
felt like lazy writing. If the bad guys can just boomerang back with no consequences then there's really nothing keeping them from just winning all the time forever. Even the "Keepers" don't seem to be much of a deterrent.

I don't know, tell me what I'm missing here.

I enjoyed it. To me the fact that demons can't be destroyed makes it a much stronger horror story than most along these lines. How do you fight an enemy you can't kill? This is definitely not a superhero show, despite being Marvel. Also, it's season 1. It's reasonable that if the show goes on, the Helstroms can find out how to better imprison or defeat demons, even if the Church and the Blood don't know how.

I bought the comics in the beginning of the 90's, I am talking about Danny Ketch. And I bought the skin in Fortnite some days ago. He is one of my favorite characters, at least until the story arc with Zadkiel. I bought some comics of Johnny Blaze, but I don't like how both are in the last years. Let's say they aren't very happy. Too bad vibes for me.
