One of my players had died in his sleep last night. I learned this from a friend, who took it pretty seriously. I was raised LDS, so death is pretty much not as heavy for me (although I'll grieve when my parents are gone, it's part of life here on Earth.)
I've decided to put my games on hold so everyone can grieve for the loss of a friend. I figured off-topic is as best a place as any.
Really sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. I know how it feels because a friend of mine died 2 years ago after a lengthy illness. We'd been friends and gaming partners for 30 years.
We forged ahead and played the weekend after his passing because that's what he would have wanted, we believe. Find what comfort you and your friends can. Taking a hiatus is a good thing to do. I wish you and all your group peace during this time.

Sorry for your loss Eltonj no matter how many times it happens in our life the loss of a loved one friend or otherwise can be painful. I hope you find the time to grieve how ever is appropriate for you. I think grief is a price we pay for the love we have of others.
