A Query About the Yuki-Onna

Advice

Would it have to be a wintry season for this creature to appear? Because I've got a pretty good adventure in mind but it's mid-spring in the campaign setting. I don't want to just jump ahead to the following winter, either.

So, whattaya think?

Mid spring on a mountain peak will still have snow.

As Havzak said, it's not tied to season, just snow. So if there's a region out there that has snow year round or even mostly year round, then it's still entirely reasonable for the creature to be around. Just send the party north or to a higher altitude.

It's a bit interesting in that the conditions which create a yuki-onna could be met almost anywhere that has harsh winters, and once they've been created they wouldn't suddenly disappear once the season changed (unless another effect deactivated their snowstorm effect.) Makes me think of Fairbanks, Alaska, where the winter can hit -30 F and the summers can climb over 100 F; it wouldn't be at all weird (from a fantasy world perspective) to be exploring the plains outside of such an area and discover a frozen hot spring or strange cave with icy winds blowing out of it where a yuki-onna resides, even if the current ambient temperature is sultry.

Thanks, everyone! Just what I needed to know.
