Hello Gamers!
I wanted to share with the community a project I've been working on the past couple of months -- a series of rules instructional videos for Starfinder that tries to take a "Show, Don't Tell" approach. In addition to explaining the rules we illustrate them with animations as well.
We publish a new Starfinder video every two weeks, so please check them out and let me know here or in the video comments if you have any suggestions for future topics.
The channel can be found here: Basics4Gamers
And here are links to our existing videos:

Basics of Attacks of Opportunity & Flanking

Funkamus,
I am writing this letter today to say that what you are doing is truly great work, getting players introduced to new RPGs can be really hard, but videos just like these are an AWESOME starting point not only for new players for GMs to point to but also as a way for folks to learn the system "on their own" before deciding to invest or find a play group.
You're awesome, keep it up!

Thanks for the kinds words and support! The follow-up to the Computers video, The Basics of Hacking, is now available as well.

Maybe a general video about the actions you can take would be nice? One error many people seem to make is to assume a full attack only takes your standard and movement action and you still have your swift as this is how it works in other RPGs.
Also some explanations of what actions you need to spend to fly and to hover.
| FunkamusPrime |
Thanks for the suggestion! I do have a video in the works that tackles Actions and Full Actions. I'll see about adding some info about flight when discussing movement.
I also have posted a new video -- Basics of Combat Part 1: Rounds, Initiative and Surprise.
This is the first part in a series of videos targeting those new to the hobby. In this segment we discuss how combat in Starfinder is organized in a series of Rounds and Turns, how Initiative dictates the order in which characters take their turns, and what happens when someone is taken by surprise.
In Part 2 of this series we will discuss how players can adjust their place in the Initiative Order by Delaying or Readying an Action.

@Matsu and Helmut -- Thanks!
The latest video is now up... Basics of Combat Part 2: Adjusting Initiative (Delay & Ready)
In the first part of this series we reviewed how combat was structured with a series of Rounds and Turns. In this segment we take the conversation one step forward by examining how players may adjust when they act in the initiative order -- by Delaying or Readying an Action.

@Nimor -- Glad to hear they're helping!
Part 3 is now up: https://youtu.be/d7VapCH2-z0
This one discusses the action economy and reviews some uses for actions beyond the attack action (which will be covered in its own video later in the series).

Praise Triune!
(and "Praise Log!")
In the spirit of keeping up Triune's work, I have posted my latest video -- the first part in a series about Starship Combat!
Basics of Starship Part 1: An Overview
This overview video talks about how starship combat differs from personal-scale combat and also dissects a starship stat block to explain some of its features. In the following videos we will dive deeper into how starship combat unfolds with "Roles" and "Phases".

Thanks, Troy!
Part 2 of the series on Starship Combat is now available!
Basics of Starships Part 2: Roles and Phases
In this video we discuss how players assume "Roles" aboard the starship, and how combat rounds are divided into distinct "Phases" that dictate when each person may declare their action (based on their Role).
As always, I appreciate everyone's support. Feel free to share your thoughts here or in the video's comments. And let me know if there are any specific examples you'd like to see illustrated... I'm toying with the idea of publishing an illustrated example per week, time permitting.
And the rest of the videos may be found here: https://www.youtube.com/c/Basics4Gamers

Thanks for all the kind words! If you haven't already subscribed to the channel, please consider doing so -- it really is a big help!
And it's funny you mention that, RD (big fan of your Saga Edition FAQ, BTW). After my first session came to a screeching halt because the technomancer tried to summon an elemental, and we were all LOST trying to figure out it's stats... I started writing a video about that... and then got frustrated and switched to something simpler. Starship combat! LOL
But I'm sure I'll dig back into it once this series on starships is wrapped.

I've already subscribed and have also liked every Starfinder video. I'll be sharing them with my friends too.
Tell me, is my FAQ still online anywhere? I kind of lost touch with the Saga community after WotC disbanded the official forums.

New video! Basics of Starships Part 3: Science Officers and Sensors.
In this one we cover the the different actions available to Science Officers, discuss Sensors and provide examples detailing the two options available when balancing shields.

Yet another great video!
You pointed out some details that I had not caught on to. Especially the science officer Target Systems duration. Science officer just became a little better!
Not sure if you take requests but it would be great if you did one of these videos on readied actions to do combat maneuvers. For example:
Readying a bull rush action to push someone off a cliff if they move into certain squares. The target might be charging you as a full action and I think a lot of people would like to know how to interrupt a full action that has both movement and combat maneuvers in it.
| FunkamusPrime |
Of course I take requests! It's just a matter of how long until I can get around to each of them. I expect Starships to take me through the summer and then need to finish the Basics of Combat series I started.
Speaking of which, one of those videos Basics of Combat Part 2: Adjusting Initiative Order does give some examples about using readied actions, although not quite as complex as what you describe.

Basics of Starships Part 4: Piloting
This one discusses the Pilot Role in Starship Combat, including examples for the different actions and stunts they can perform.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words, which are quite timely. I actually start a new job as a full-time Instructional Designer tomorrow!! :)
I was a corporate trainer for 17 years... mostly training delivery, but some design work too. I was laid off from that job and decided to teach myself Articulate to broaden my employment options. The YouTube channel started as just a fun way to practice that.

New Video: Basics of Starship Engineers!
In this one we go over the actions available to engineers, as well as review the rules on repairing starship damage.
Enjoy!
