Any way to have a weapon that uses thrown ammunition (crystal chakram)

Rules Questions

The Exchange

Essentially I want to get an Endless Ammunition projectile weapon that generates Crystal Chakrams for me.

We have the Amentum, which uses spear-type ammunition, but we don't have the same for disk-type ammunition.

Because chakrams aren't considered ammunition and neither is the spear hurled by the amentum.

The amentum is more like weapon modifer for the spear which allows it to be thrown farther than could otherwise be done.

What you want is to buy a blink back belt and to throw chakrams.

The Exchange

I wanted to use the Crystal Chakram not a normal Chakram.

Why? Just use regular chakrams with a blink back belt. You can pretend its made out of crystal.

If you really need it to be made out of crystal then use Noqual or another special material.

Also, crystal chakrams are only treated as ammunition for the price of magical enhancements being applied to them, which is generous since they break when they're used.

my guess would be because of the 18-20 crit range, then go keen and have a 15-20 crit weapon.

Ahhh.

Then no. It's not reasonable to allow infinite low cost higher crit range weapons like that.

The whole balancing point of them would be that the break after each use, so you can't repeatedly use them.

They're not ammunition, only treated that was for the purposes of magical enhancing meaning you don't spend a bunch as much money to enchant something that breaks when used.

Ok, I think technically this can be done.

First, you get a crossbow with endless ammunition enchantment, you probably want it to be for a large creature, ballista size or better.

Then you animate the object with craft contruct and cast awaken construct on it. This lets you get weapon proficiency for chakrams and the appropriate crafting skill to make them.

Weapon that uses thrown chakram? Check.
Endless Ammunition projective weapon? Check.
Able to generate crystal chackrams? Check.

This of course won't let the animated crossbow fire chakrams magically generated each round via the endless ammunition enchantment since that doesn't make chakrams, but it does satisfy all the stated requirements.

Go with that one vigilante talent that lets you have an unlimited supply of them?

It wouldn't work very well.

[qipte]Returning Weapon (Ex): The vigilante has a signature type of thrown weapon that returns to him. Choose a type of thrown weapon, such as throwing axes. Whenever the vigilante uses that type of weapon, it automatically returns as if it had the returning property. At 14th level, if the vigilante chose a type of thrown weapon that is treated as ammunition, such as shuriken, and buys a set of 50 magic ammunition of that type, he automatically replenishes them at no cost and never runs out. If he chose a non-ammunition thrown weapon instead, he can apply the magical properties of the first weapon he throws in a round to any non-magical thrown weapons of that type he throws that round. This allows him to make a full attack with the benefits of his magical thrown weapon, even though it only returns next round.

Despite being priced like ammunition for magical enhancement, they don't count as ammunition.
