James Gunn is back as director.

Disney saw the error of there ways. And dollar signs. ;)

I'm honestly surprised. It's a good move especially with all the face saving they've had to do after being eaten by trolls. The movie will be better for it and gives The Mouse a way to cordially depart with one of the core architects of the late MCU tone. If Gunn or D wants this to be a last hoorah, it works all around.

If not? Gunn makes pretty good films.

Honestly I'm unimpressed either way in terms of the fact: Disney can't handle trolling.

Liberty's Edge

I’ve never been a fan of the Guardian films, but I think bringing Gunn back was the right move.

I hope they pull back a bit with the comedy on this one. The last one was too cartoonish.

Vid,

Maybe but I felt they did a GREAT job with Ego. Just missed him actually being a talking planet...in terms of seeing a talking planet.

Great news. Hope they or one must say the boss of Disney are able to handle this stuff better next time.

@Thomas Seitz: That was my only really gripe with part 2. Would have loved to see Ego more as the planet would have been great and would have hammered home that Kurt Russel was an avatar.

Yeah I didn't see the point of fighting the avatar but it was a major scene. I forgave it because of the giant Pac-man.

Well I guess maybe they'd have needed a bigger budget to get Ego right. Maybe. At least that's my take that I think I could be wrong.

Plus, without the human avatar the whole "Quill is his son" thing would have been even weirder. And that was basically the whole plot.

Well it's a goodly portion of it, no question. But then again I always felt that Ego is kind of threat to lots of things...

Ego did fight off Galactus before right?

Only because they basically ran into each other...and Galactus wanted him to eat him.

I do imagine Galactus was a bit surprised. Not used to food fighting back like that. Probably spooked him.

I saw GotG2 in theaters and later watched it on video.
If memory serves, the theater Ego planet was more like a static picture, while on the video version they added a small amount of animation.
I think the animators ran out of time and the studio didn't want to push back the release date.

Vid,

You should read Thor 700. There was some VERY cool moments in the fight between a Void touched Galactus and Ego.

Trailer!!!!

You know I never thought of that but now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense why they have an place that looks like 1950s USA.

89p13 is rockets experiment number.

What if that's 19 89 (the era emulated) Procyon lotor 3 ?

Just got back. By far the best MCU film since Endgame.

Bring Kleenex...this has got some TOUGH scenes to watch.

Scarab Sages

I actually thought about going to see this one in the theater, but then I saw the run time. These days, I don't go to the theater for anything with too long a run time.

If it's ever available on Amazon, I'll probably at least rent it.

As someone that helped shut down a rabbit mill and a puppy mill this was one of the most emotionally traumatizing movies I've seen in a long time.

It was a good movie, but I will never watch it again.
