confirming: You can not buy a low level item as a high level right?

Rules Questions

Howdy. howdy

So I haven't had much involvement in the last year. So I wanted to confirm it.

you can not buy a lv 1 or 2 item (say flame pistol) as say a lv 5 item.
I don't really mean increasing stats or anything. I really just wish I could buy specific weapons at higher levels just for fusions.

There are a lot of levels where you can't get a similar weapon for quite a few levels. Sure there are other ones.. but it makes it really hard to take a specific "style" of character.

Flamer pistol and then nothing until plasma pistol (or the new Armory's lv 7 flame pistol upgrade) for instance.

So in the last year, has there been any addition or faq or anything that lets you pay extra for higher effective levels for fusion usage?

No, that is not a thing that exists.

Thought not. Darn.

Use a fusion seal? Those work on any weapon with a given level or less. You pay 10% more than a weapon fusion with the same maximum level.

I had a similar issue with wanting a hook sword and the chained fusion so I could trip enemies. Hook sword level 3, changed fusion is 6. Fusion seal let's me do that.

I don't think fusion seals do that. The level of the fusion seal puts a ceiling on what weapon level you can apply it to, but the level of the fusion still puts a floor on what it can work on, too.

Fusion Seals

A fusion seal affects only weapons of a given level or less, as noted in parentheses after the name of the fusion seal. For example, a holy fusion seal that could be applied to any weapon of 10th level or lower would be written holy fusion seal (10th).

A fusion seal can’t be added to a weapon if doing so would cause the weapon’s total level of fusions (including the level of the fusion seal) to exceed its item level or if the weapon is not a legitimate choice for the fusion within the fusion seal.

Just to clarify, the holy fusion seal (10th) mentioned above has an item level of 2, since the holy fusion is level 2.

Seals just make the fusion swapping easier, no other advantage over regular fusions.

Yeah.. the lv 4 fusion (and or seal) is still above the lv 2 item's maximum amount for fusions.

Really, it is a shame you can't just pay extra, to buy or craft a "stronger" version of a low level weapon. I really wish I could get a lv 5 flame pistol in general. There is the electrical one at least I guess, but is so expensive that it runs into the same issue as the Flame Pistol.
Opportunity cost (in bulk, or money/upb) is too high. and you can't really make a line weapon your main weapon very easily. It really will always be a niche item.

which is one reason i really wanted one maze cored I guess.

I think you have to separately put fusions on individual weapons in a maze core, so I don’t think that would help, either.

Officially only a common ammunition supply can be shared. You’d need to apply two different scopes, even, if you wanted a scope on both weapons in a maze core.

the Crafting Equipment and Magic Items is pretty open for interpretation, though it does lead off by saying'

"However, it allows you to acquire exactly what you need, as long as you can meet the construction requirements."

figuring out the total price would be the only sticking point, otherwise it should be just a matter of crafting a higher level flame pistol

I really only cared about energetic or manufacturing fusion in my specific case. I assumed two separate stuff, most weapons don't really need either of those two. Though a few heavy weapons could benefit from it, as could a few projectile sniper rifles with painful reload.

Well, since this isn't for SFS, I might as well ask about paying extra for it. Though I do dislike doing that sorta thingg. Can't hurt given how vague some bits are that they aren't terribly against things.

I do wish and am somewhat surprised there aren't a way to level up an item or to some sort of weapon accessory for funneling a high level fusion into a lower weapon.

That might be a neat hybrid item or just an accessory that adds bulk or soemthing.

Thanks folks

What a bummer. I was wanting the same thing for the tail blade. Only 4 levels of fusions isn't very many, but it's a great way to always have a spellthrower fusion on you.

You can level-up power armor though, which doesn't help with fusions. I think each level costs 1.5 of the cost of the previous level. You could try using the same logic to increase a weapon's cost if you're homebrewing it.
