Spells, Metamagic and Metamagic Rods.

I prepare a MAXIMIZED Summon Nature's Ally III ; it will occupy one of my 6th level spell slots.
From the CRB:
"In all ways, a metamagic spell operates at its original spell level, even though it is prepared and cast using a higher-level spell slot."

If I want to use a Quicken Rod on this spell, do I need a lesser rod of Quicken (35000 gp, lvls 1-3), or a Rod of Quicken (75500 gp, lvls 1-6)?
