is pfs legal for ifrits only

but it is part of the solar sorcerer bloodline which is not race restricted.

so, can a non ifrit solar sorcerer use fury of the sun as his bloodline bonus spell in pfs?

(hero lab says no, btw)

It is my understanding that yes you can. When you are presented with a usually “illegal” character option, that another legal option gives you by default, without it being a choice, then it is legal.

I also believe you can, since the bloodline is giving you access to it. If that wasn't the case, there would be an alternative spell to take at 5th level listed somewhere.

Just as an FYI, be aware of the changes to the solar bloodline listed on the Campaign Clarifications page

I believe that anything from the ARG is still restricted to race-only unless reprinted in another source. Here and Here are are JohnC's responses to similar inquiries.

This is a complex case, in that fury of the sun is not normally on the wizard/sorcerer spell list at all. Like how the celestial bloodline adds flame strike to the sorcerer's spells known even though it's not normally on the sorcerer/wizard spell list.

I agree, based on John Compton's responses (and Mark Moreland's earlier in the same thread) a non-ifrit can't cast fury of the sun. But I really think the archetype writer's intention was to add it to any solar bloodline sorcerer, regardless of race. Ah well, edge cases in a complex system.

The only problem I have with this is the fact that there's no Campaign Clarification about replacing the spell with something else. There's even a Campaign Clarification to replace the bonus spell you get at 3rd level, but not the one you gain at 5th.

If a character isn't going to be able to cast the spell because of their race, then there needs to be a replacement bonus spell.

This would qualify as another source so its legal

I believe the maslows heirarchy is

Ace illegal banhammers all
King Specific access trumps anything else
Queen Limited to a certain race.
