Let's say you want to create a Trompe l'Oeil, which requires a "masterwork painting" as it's base material. So you pick up your brush, brush off your Craft(paintings) skill and get to work. But what's the DC you're aiming for? Is it:
A). 20, for a "complex or superior item"?
B). 15, for a ""high-quality item"?
C). 15, and then 20, per the "masterwork component" rule? But if so: what's the cost of this mw component?
D). something else?

Under these rules, you get:
Artistry DC .. Workmanship
10 .. Pedestrian work. No one buys your original work, but you get a few odd jobs using your skills—often just repairing or copying someone else’s work. You earn 1d10 cp per day.
15 .. Pleasing work. In a prosperous city, you find a few who wish to purchase your work, and earn 1d10 sp per day.
20 .. Impressive work. In a prosperous city, you earn 3d10 sp per day, and may receive an artistic commission from a wealthy or public figure. As a result, you gain a local reputation.
25 .. Memorable work. In a prosperous city, you earn 1d6 gp per day, and you are likely to attract the attention of wealthy patrons and to develop a national reputation.
30 .. Masterful work. In a prosperous city, you earn 3d6 gp per day. In time, you may draw attention from distant patrons, or even from extraplanar beings.
Therefore DC is 30.
Under these rules, you get:
When you’re crafting a masterwork item or an item made of a special material, its crafting difficulty increases by one step. For example, a longsword (which has a base difficulty of normal) is considered a complex item when crafted as a masterwork item (DC 20; 4 gp base progress per day). In the case of items crafted from special materials that also count as masterwork (such as adamantine armor and weapons), the complexity of the item increases by two steps.
No specific DC listed, but basically +5 on the DC of an ordinary item.
Lastly, I remember reading somewhere, that DC 30 got a masterwork something.
Best guess: DC 30

Their is no specific price for 'masterwork tool.' Every tool is different but usually it is 50-100 GP or so more than the 'basic' version.
The DC to craft it would be 5 higher than the DC of the basic version (which the GM typically has to rule on as not every possibility is listed.)
Paintings are of course is not listed and artistic quality and craftsmanship are different. 'Masterwork' quality thing is certainly not the same thing as a 'Masterful Work' from the optional artistry skill. A Masterful Painting would be the Mona Lisa, a Masterwork Painting would probably be Dogs Playing Poker, but made of sturdy materials and highly resistant to fading etc.
I would say a DC of about 20 for a 'Masterwork Painting' is appropriate. Masterwork work items are well regarded, but hardly rare and probably equivalent to the 'Impressive Work' from an artistic point of view.
