What counts as a magic attack conserning distraction?

Rules Questions

The bard ability syas " Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by an illusion (pattern) or illusion (figment) magical attack may use the bard’s Perform check result in place of its saving throw"

But what kind of things counts as a magic attack?
Can i use it on major image and stuff like that?
or is the fact that it says "illusion (figment)" just in case they made a attack spell with that sub school?

Probably more like jitterbugs or incessant buzzing, possibly horrific doubles, maybe illusory maze. Though these last two are not direct attacks, so there's plenty of room for argument there.

Color Spray, Loathsome Veil, Rainbow Pattern, Scintillating Pattern, Hypnotic Pattern all come to mind for Illusion (pattern) magical attacks.
