how many miles can a character who.....?

Run 60<50,40,35,30,25,20 *did I miss any?*> feet in 3 seconds..... how many miles can he or she run in an eight hour day? And how many squares is that....? Was trying to figure it out but I am not the math-y-ist knife in the knife drawer. Once it reached huge number my brain shut down. That and i lack faith in my math skills.

But i stll want to know. My math got iffy after 800 squares in one minute800x60=48000x8=384000? So.... 384000 squares in 8 hours..... 1056 is how many squares equal a mile...so 1056/384000 = 363.636364 so just over 363 miles? Or something....

That can not be right

60 Feet in three seconds

60 feet .....20 feet per
-----------= ---------- X 60 seconds in a minute X60 minutes in an hour=
3 seconds 1 second

72000 feet or 13.6 miles per hour
72000 feet/5= 14400 squares per hour

There is one fundamental problem at the heart of the equation. Why would you assume the pace they maintain for a handful of 6 second rounds be equal to the pace they can maintain for 8 hours?

Foot soldiers had to get around long distances somehow in the old days. And if they needed to be somewhere soon they did't lollygag. If they did I am sure the officers on horses would whip their behinds.

It's training. I want to know. And if you can run for 8 hours, then walking for 8 hours should be easy. If you walked 10 miles when you can run 60 in the same amount of time. Then you should be limber enough to take first watch while party members kick up their sore feet.

There are rules for grueling runs i am just not sure what it is really called in the books its a con check after an hour or something then a check every ten minutes after that and you can just take a ten minute or more break while the party catches up.

And this is starfinder we have....... rides. Anyways its good to know if there is ever a situation where your gm wants you to run across the planet away from a horde but wont give you any transportation or takes away any form of transportation thats not something repulsive. My pc can run fast it is how i built him.

In that case, it would make more sense to start from the sustained overland movement rates, where each 10 ft of speed covers 8 miles per day, and the hustle and forced March rules (CRB page 258), rather than starting from combat speed.

Well, I did do the math a while back for how fast a low level ysoki operative with mobile can sprint (based on them taking the run action) I think it came to approximately 36 km/h (which is roughly 14 km/h shy of the record held by usain bolt).

But that is far below the limitations of how fast you can get a character (but also not a speed you can sustain for more than a round or two)

edit: I just did the math for an operative 15/Soldier 1 (blitz) Bantrid with fleet, speed suspension and jet dash. They can run at a max speed of 131 km/h (81.8 mp/h for people who are still stuck using imperial).

But that is at a full sprint that can't be maintained for long.

That sounds so muchbetter then the numbers i was getting. 300 miles pluss my rear. And if your ever forced to run for your life it is best to run in the middle of what your fully capable of. You dont wana lollygag but you also dont want to go full out all the time only when you want to get away from being eaten. You do not wana be the fastest just faster then the slowest guy. Being the fastest furthest running guy is just a plus.
