No real reason for this, just been expanding the lore of this backup character and wanted to share. Isn't that always how it is though? The backup character gets a tonne more development than the first? It's a time thing for sure, but anyway.
So the main character is an Envoy Icon, very much playing up being a punk singer. After some run ins with disease and poison and realizing a few failed saves is a dead character though it became wise to have a backup. I decided to tie that backup into the main character though. She's a rockstar, she needs a manager.
With that, I also has a Drow Vigilante in Pathfinder that I was enjoying so I just kinda tossed those two together. Drow manager. Pact Worlds was out so I put together a Corporate Agent Solarian (the only class our table lacked). I read up on the Drow and Apostae to research the character and put together the story.
The Drow in Starfinder are business oriented, so Erel'ae of course has a mind for business. Lawful Evil, willing to do what it takes to protect an investment. In this case, the Envoy. If something happens to her investment, she's sticking with the crew until the 45,000 credit tab is payed off to bring her investment back.
But why does a Drow Solarian, graduate of the borderline torture of the Eclipse Academy on Apostae, care about a music star? Inspiration: K-pop.
K-pop is government approved entertainment as an export in Korea. There's opportunity, entertainment is a valuable resource. It can be used for a lot of things in the long term. So you have Erel'ae, essentially pioneering a new export for Apostae, a highly risky entrepreneurial endeavor that she will do whatever it takes to get off the ground and make a name for herself, her family.
I look forward to playing this character, even if I love my Kasumi, Human Envoy Icon. That second character always gets the better detailing work done though.
I honestly only know K-pop from watching the Netflix series "Explained". It is odd.
And said investment is a member of the Starfinder Society. There's gains in your culture Icon going around and spreading her name across the galaxy.
Plus the Icon is Chaotic Neutral. A good part of the out and about is pure rebellious image as a punk star.
So is he or she guna become a solarian for the armor Attunement? The idea of someone out there playing a "magical girl" just puts a smile on my face. I would but not my currant group the hazing is strong with them and they are not worthy of the purity that is a magical girl.
Sadly no. But if I was going to play a magical girl, I would just use the Pathfinder Vigilante Archtype of the same name. :P You even get an adorable animal sidekick.
