I was wondering if it was possible to partially upgrade a stat item that gives a bonus to 2 or 3 stats such as a Headband of Mental Prowess?
What I'm looking for is could a character with a +2 headband increase the bonus for one stat to +4, then as funds allow increase the enhancement on the second stat (so for example the headband might grant +4 CHA / +2 INT). If that was possible I would anticipate the cost would be half the difference between the +2 (10k) and +4 (40k) versions (ie 15k to partially enhance an existing +2 headband).

That would constitute inventing a custom magic item (the +4/+2 stage does exist in the rulebooks), so it needs GM approval.
The price of a single +N is 1000 * N * N. The price of two different things together is (higher price) + 1.5 * (lower price).
So the price of a +4/+2 headband would be 16000 + 1.5 * 4000 = 22000, so the price to upgrade from a +2/+2 to +4/+2 would be 12000, and the price to upgrade +4/+2 to +4/+4 would be 18000. It's not split evenly because of the x1.5 on the lower boost.
