And just for fun, it can also produce light, hold ioun stones, cast protection from evil once per day, and help you find north if you get lost.
There are some other neat items for detecting evil alignments, like discerning goggles or a monocle of unveiled auras, but the wayfinder is definitely the cheapest and easiest.
