April Win10 Update Has Ruined My Audio

Technology

Is anyone having computer issues after installing the April Win10 update? My laptop runs slower than ever and the audio keeps trying to buffer every few seconds, causing the music to "buzz". It's so irritating. The laptop is the one I use on game nights for Skyping with long distance players and looking things up on d20pfsrd. Anyone have any helpful tips?

First, check to make sure you have the latest driver version for your audio devicews.

Then, right click the .exe file for the audio software, and then click the "troubleshoot compatibility" menu item.

See you need to use an earlier Win version to run them.

Or, third, see if there's a more recent version of that app.

It ran fine before the Win10 Update. I've done all you said except look for a prior version. This was a free computer from a friend and I don't know if it had something on it before 10. I'm waiting on him to call me back.

Thanks, though!

I now have Windows 7 Pro back on it. And the sound is perfect.

On that particular laptop a friend just wiped it clean and installed Win7 back on it. I've seen gotten a brand new laptop with the latest Win10 updates on it and it seems to be doing ok.

The update essentially destroyed not only my hobby programs, but also many production (read that work) programs.

In some cases, I was able to download patches from the manufacturers.

In other cases, I was able to use the "compatibility" tab under program properties.

In other cases, I had to turn off some of the Win 10 security to run the programs or run them as Administrator.

In too many cases, there was nothing to be done, and thousands of dollars worth of software are inoperable after the April update.

I also did a Gamer Skillz video Here:fixing Win 10 apps don't work errors that might work if some of the other suggestions fail.

Thanks, DrGames. I wiped the hard drive after backing up all my files and reinstalled Win7 on it then gave it to a friend after another friend surprised me with a brand new HP Notebook. It's slow but that's the worst thing about Win10 on it so far.
