AP "Legal for Play" in Additional Resources vs. Chronicle Sheet "unlock"

Pathfinder Society

Hi all,

I was wondering:

What is the difference between having content listed as "legal for play" for an Adventure Path and having an item on the Chronicle Sheet?

For rule books is clear but for AP not so much:

If one owns the AP module book, the "legal item" for Additional Resources becomes available or it becomes so after you get the Chronicle Sheet?

But if it is the latter (Chronicle Sheet to "unlock")...why bother referring in Additional Resources instead of keeping its existence secret as for the module stuff? :-?

Thanks,
Skarm

Any number of reasons:

• Some boons give you a discount on items bought from Chronicle Sheets (I know a certain Tea Set acquired in this manner well before it would normally be available).
• Most AP items on Chronicles are not listed on the Additional Resources page.
• Putting an expensive item on a Chronicle opens it up for purchase as "Always Available", bypassing the normal Fame restrictions.
• An item may have made its way onto the Additional Resources page after the Chronicle was printed.
• The item has a different price or function than the item written in the AP.

Just to name a few.

Ah...ok...so if you get the Chronicle Sheet, it might cost less?

But still works like other rulebooks that one can purchase (at full price, obviously) the item if he owns the book and IF the specific item is listed as "legal" in the Additional Resources?

It works like other rulebooks, in that the item may require more Fame than you have or may not be legal in Additional Resources, despite owning the AP volume, unless you have it on a chronicle sheet.

Yes, Starglim, but my doubt is:

If it is listed in Additional Resources AND I have enough Fame to buy at its standard price AND I owned the AP volume...it would be available for purchase?

And then the Chronicle Sheet would make it available at lower cost, outside Fame limitations, etc...?

Thanks,

Potentially, yes.

Generally the second, occasionally the first, sometimes with unique abilities or easier access (such as partly charged wands).

Have to love those 12 charge wands of lesser restoration, 15 charge wands of mirror image, CL9 scrolls of barkskin, and other not normally available items.
