Kinda exactly what the title says. I'm thinking about starting to GM on the boards, I figure the best way to do this would of course run an AP. I think PbP is a great way to get my feet wet so to speak as a GM. PbP go a fair bit slower which gives me plenty of time to read and react, I have a LOT of free time as I am unfortunately a medically retired veteran and while I play in a lot of games I still have a lot of free time.
Anyone got any advice? I'm happy to have suggestions of APs to run, general advice, or really anything anyone has to offer or say.

Apologies, Pathfinder would be my particular medium. I know it best. Though I'll admit even I get some of the rules wrong on the occasion. However, I'm always happy to research if someone knows the correct ruling.
I probably won't be doing Pathfinder Society play though, I think by not running it that way I can deviate a little. I also firmly believe in the idea that not all hero's should be created equally.

I'd also suggest starting with a Module rather than an AP. Or just the first book of an AP and decide if you can handle it from there. It takes a long loooooooooong time to play a full AP and I've only heard of 2 that have gotten done in less than 3 years.
And per usual read through Painlord's guide to get excellent tips and tricks for play.

The only real reason I'm leaning towards just a book 1 of an AP is simply because I've done a couple of modules in person and I've been an active player on the forums for over 3 years. (I have had only weekend interruptions that I can recall over that entire course.)
I believe I can keep up with at least a promise of 1 book.
