We are doing Gestalt starting at level 5. I was considering summoner but am not interested in the SM SLA. My DM agreed to let me trade it out for having my Eidolon's HD be equal to my level, instead of 3/4. I realize that with this and it being a gestalt game, synthesist is probably not the strongest choice because of the loss of action economy, so I am open to normal summoner builds if someone wants to suggest one, but I was thinking of doing a synthesist build where I don't just make it a standard melee striker. Suggestions?

If you're not going for direct combat with a Synthesist suit, it's probably best to treat it as a movement/utility piece, allowing you to do things like easily climb up walls to get away from foes. Witch might do well - between the battlefield control and the debuffs, you can be quite the terror from afar.

I think you might have some fun with a Sythesist/Oracle build. You would have good stat synergy and wide variety of spells. It could also create some fun thematic matches with your mystery and Eidolon, like a Heavens mystery with an Angelic Eidolon form or a Dragon Mystery and Dragon-like eidolon. Main downside I see in only having one good save, but you can probably deal with that ok.

One build I was considering was a Synthesist // Umbral Bloodline Sorcerer for lots of stealthy shenanigans, particularly hide in plain sight. Then with the Eidolon take things like Fly, Skilled (Stealth), elemental resistances, shadow blend, and eventually things like elemental immunities, blindsight, incorporeal form, and/or spell resistance. But I have few ideas past that on how to build that. What types of spells do I focus on, etc. I dont want to use summoning as a main strategy.
