Two Clarifications: Multiclassing and Entangle

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

I have taken 2 levels in ranger and, just recently, 1 in druid.

In the list of druid spells there is a spell called Longstrider. It says the duration is 1 hr/level (not druid level or caster level). Does this mean that it would last 3 hours or 1 hour.

To follow up, if it is druid or caster level, then does the ranger level stack when I start getting casting levels with ranger at 4th as he gets this spell on his list?

If it is caster level then does it have to be on my spell list to go up or is it any caster level, for instance if I take a level in sorcerer?

Second questions, does the spell Entangle affect its caster? How would it affect a high level ranger with Woodland Stride?

Shadow Lodge

If a spell says "level" in the duration section, they mean caster level. So it would be a 1 hour duration for your character.

Caster levels are tracked separately, so if you are a level 5 ranger (caster level 5-3 = 2) and a level 1 druid (caster level 1) you are considered to be caster level 2 when casting spells using your ranger spell slots, and caster level 1 when casting spells using your druid spell slots. This is true even if a spell is on both the druid and ranger spell lists.

Entangle does affect the caster, and since Woodland Stride says that "Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that are enchanted or magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect him" it does not prevent you from being affected by Entangle. The magic item Ring of Sacred Mistletoe would however give a 7th level ranger the ability to move through Entangle and similar effects without penalty.

Thank you.

Multiclassing druid and ranger is really not a good idea. I'm not sure exactly what your going for, but you might want to consider being a Hunter instead.

Hunter
It is a 'hybrid class' between druid and ranger. More magic than the ranger (about on par with the bard, with access to druid and ranger spells) with a martial focus centering around fighting alongside your animal companion.

If you haven't already taken your druid level, retraining your ranger levels to hunter should take about 10 days and cost 200gp according to the Retraining rules.
