Area spells that must target a single creature

Rules Questions

I am having a bit of an issue with a particular spell - resilient sphere. This is an area spell that lists a single creature as a target. Here’s the scenario:

The spell is used to target a creature in a group with his buddies. What happens when the creature:
A - makes its save
B - fails it’s save

Thanks

Here's the spell.

So, you get a sphere centred on one creature, which may enclose others if you're high enough level. As it's centred on a creature I'd suggest that you effectively get a hemisphere above ground, if everybody's on a flat(ish) surface.

If the target makes its save, then it's not caught, effectively the spell fails.
If the target fails its save, it is caught in the sphere.

What isn't completely clear is how you treat any other creatures inside the sphere, whether they get a save to avoid being caught, or whether they can be caught if the target creature makes its save.

No shunting of creatures while they jump out of the way to avoid the effects, as in create pit? It was brought to my attention that even if the target makes his save, the magic still happens you just have to move out of it.
