Merfolk Character Options

Has it been stated anywhere if Merfolk will have access to their alternate racial features and other Merfolk options? If so, would someone please point me in that direction?

Currently, only the options in Inner Sea Races are legal according to the AR. We'll see if there are any changes once the new AR goes live.

I believe Aquatic Adventures and Blood of the Sea have information on them in Additional Resources as well as Campaign Clarifications already.

Significantly, some items in there are available to any aquatic race, not just the named one, and others are locked to a race?

Blood of the Sea options are definitely legal, I just checked as I am putting together my first merfolk. The crucial parts really are Advanced Race Guide as that is where strongtail is. A 5' land speed is simply not viable for a very large number of character options.

Hopefully merfolk options from the ARG show up in the additional reaources update


Strong Tail is what I am most worried about too. I can make 15 feet work, but 5 is not going to be worth it! When is the next AR update scheduled for?

There are expanded merfolk options in the pending Additional Resources update. It's in the queue with other website updates, so I don't have a good estimate of when it will appear here. Adding the Advanced Race Guide options (including strong tail as an alternate racial trait) is one of the changes.

Merfolk and Gillmen stuff was added in the new additional resources, but races still not legal without a boon.

Can you clarify that sir. I really dont understand why in the Additional Resources says first that Nothing from (...) Merfolk, (...) are currently legal for play. But than after some lines there is "Merfolk: All alternate reacial traits, favored class options, racial archetypes, racial feats, equipment, and magic items are legal for play." but in red.

Whats the red text stands for? ITs new stuff that's now avaliable or just stuff that isnt yet avaliable.

What it means, is that unless you have a boon saying that you can be a merfolk or gillman. You can't be one. If you DO have a boon giving you access to the merfolk race for e.g. then all the alternate racial traits, etc. are available to you as well. Red just means that line has been changed since the last update.
