Hi,
This will be my first time DM'ing, and one of my players asked if they can adjust the Arrowsong Minstrel archetype, to remove the penalty Diminished spellcasting 'feature' from the archetype.
----
Diminished Spellcasting
An Arrowsong minstrel casts one fewer spell of each level than normal. If this reduces the number to 0, she can cast spells of that level only if her Charisma score allows bonus spells of that level.
This alters the bard’s spellcasting.
----
The player is aiming for Arcane Archer.
The question is, what should he sacrifice for getting to keep full spellcasting with the Arrowsong Minstrel archetype, if anything?
Is the archetype crap already? Should I just let him have the full spellcasting capabilities of the bard? Should it cost a feat or feature?
The player himself is suggesting locking out two to three schools of magic from the bard. Which he has generously picked out himself as Necromancy, Abjuration or Evocation (although not the ones gained from the Wizard/Sorcerer list from the archetype). Schools he might never use.
All advice is much appreciated!

Arrowsong minstrel isn't a particularly strong archetype, though it makes a decent entry to arcane archer. Depending on the rest of the party it might not be unbalanced with his something-for-nothing changes.
If you wanted to make the changes balanced against the unchanged arrowsong minstrel you would need to take out something more substantial though. Illusion perhaps.

That is a great idea. Lose some utility for the extra spellcasting.
