Necromancer Animate Undead

Rules Questions

With Animate Undead, what would be the full stats of a Redcap skeleton? Would I get the SQ abilities as well, like having it be able to carry a medium size weapon and have the redcap use?

Also with other animate undead creatures, would I be able to retain their attacks like if it had bite, claws and tail whip, would I get all the attacks or just the claw and bite attacks when making it a skeleton?

Thanks in advance.

1. A skeletal red cap would retain Boot Stomp (Ex) and Heavy Weapons (Ex) but not Red Cap (Su):

Skeleton wrote:
Special Qualities: A skeleton loses most special qualities of the base creature. It retains any extraordinary special qualities that improve its melee or ranged attacks.

2. In general, you keep natural attacks:

Skeleton wrote:
Attacks: A skeleton retains all the natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature, except for attacks that can’t work without flesh. A creature with hands gains one claw attack per hand; the skeleton can strike with each of its claw attacks at its full attack bonus. A claw attack deals damage depending on the skeleton’s size (see Natural Attacks table below.) If the base creature already had claw attacks with its hands, use the skeleton claw damage only if it’s better.

Hope this helps!

I would rule that both Boot Stomp and Heavy Weapons "improve its melee attacks" and would allow them on a skeleton. Irreligious does not, so it is dropped. Red Cap is dropped for being supernatural.

As to your second question,

Quote:

A creature with hands gains one claw attack per hand; the skeleton can strike with each of its claw attacks at its full attack bonus. Edit: ninja'd while researching

Thanks for the help. So if I am reading that right that if it had a tail or wings it would still be able to attack with them unless the tail or wings did not have a skeletal structure? Obviously would not be able to fly but would retain the wings attack if it had wings?

Dark Archive

Yep.

Cool. Thanks all for the help.
