Lycanthropes.

Rules Questions

So, my DM decided that my character was going to get Cursed with Lycanthropy by a wizard who doesn't like us and unfortunately i didn't make the proper save i drew the short straw. and was told on my next session over the course of three nights i was missing and i showed back up bloody and essentially wearing ragged clothes.

None of this was known to me, the curse the disappearance. Nothing (not that im mad because im not)
Now, i only found out because when i showed back up our paladin did a spell to find out what was wrong with me and found Lycanthropy. Literally the only reason we found out. I was then told i could get healed by our Cleric (level 7) or get a potion to cure diseases.

Now i've done all sorts of research on Lycanthropy and a lot seems to state that it HAS to be a level 12 cleric and after 3 days i can't be cured.

Now i was wondering as to why this was the ruling as my DM and i are foggy on it and im more inclined to follow the rules everyone else seems to agree on rather then the ability for a level 3 spell to cure me because it says All curses. Is there a spacific reason that after 3 days or a full moon transformation it can't be done. Also, is there ways of gaining control As a werewolf OR subduing myself or by another member of my party. As i think it'd be pretty cool to have it in my back pocket. I just want something straightforward to show my DM why the ruling is the way it is

It sounds to me like the DM was already house-ruling some things. Maybe he's just house-ruling the cure, too?

Those rules are for a curse of lycanthropy delivered through the bite of a natural lycanthrope. You were afflicted by a (presumably) a bestow curse spell so it should be possible to remove it like any other curse delivered by the spell, with a successful application of the remove curse spell. Do keep in mind that Remove Curse requires a caster level check, so depending on the level of that Wizard it could take several attempts before you can successfully remove it.

However, if the curse was delivered with a Greater Bestow Curse spell then you're really in trouble. You'd need a 9th level Cleric, Wizard, or Witch to to be able to cast that spell, and even then they'd only have a 20% chance of success per casting. This is actually a bit nastier than the standard lycanthrope curse as delivered by their bite.

Thanks for the info. Im going to pass along the Greater Bestow Curse info to check if that is indeed what it was (which likely might be as this Character who placed it on my character is Very strong)

I am also hoping to create a sheet to play as a Lycanthrope. Instead of having a seperate sheet as a multiclass. i am thinking because it was placed spacifically AS a curse alongside my Half Elf Rogue.
Im not overpowering it though as it IS a curse.

Does it sound fair to have things such as Speed, AC, Stats and other such things generally be the same? Naturally in most of the three forms i don't have access to what i would outside cursed form. Such as magic items, ranged weapons and skills that aren't considered animalistic (like perception, stealth, swim would be crude like that i think)
I also think it's maybe fair to not have feats or skills my rogue would have so i would have to use my strength bonus for attacks rather then my dex with that feat etc.

I really want to try to work with my DM to try and make it fun, if theres anything i can do to this sheet that you guys might think is fair play i'd really appreciate it. Sorry for all the questions, we're still a fairly new group at Pathfinders so we're all a little unseasoned on the rules and such.

A werewolf is a +1 CR template, which means on paper it's roughly equivalent to one additional character level in terms of its power increase. However PC's using monster rules is very squarely in the purview of GM discretion so you'll need to talk to your GM to work out specifically how you want to do this.
