Cavalier / Paladin Multiclassing Advice

Advice

I'm in a game currently playing a Cavalier with the Sister in Arms archetype (nevermind that he's male, I just love the flavor). After making the character I was thinking of going Cavalier 2 then dipping into Paladin for the Holy Tactician for 3 levels so I could get battlefield presence and become a teamwork feat junkie. So my question is:

Would that be a good idea? Should I skip that? Is Chevalier a better option later? Honestly I've never played a Cavalier and I'm trying really hard to be group support without dipping Bard to double down on the cheese. Any suggestions or comments would be great.

Thanks in advance, everyone!

I am unfamiliar with the archtypes you mention, so am unable to judge the value they bring to the table. I can tell you that diluting your Cavalier levels dilutes the advancement of your mount, who advances just like a Druid's AC. Literally, they tell you to use the Druid's AC chart for your mount.

A loss of three levels means that your mount is underdeveloped and underperforms...

You mount will generally be down by 1 BAB, 1 in all saves, 2HD and 2 AC.

There is a feat that causes your mount to act at full level despite class dilution, but I think it only works in certain cases.

If you are doing it for fluff reasons, go ahead. The mechanical stuff doesn't really matters so much then. Plus, you automatically get a new mount if the current one dies... but that takes a month.

If you are doing it for mechanical reasons, my gut impulse is to say no. IBut as i said above, I am uncertain of the mechanical advantages to be gained from the dip and archtypes mentioned....

The Sister-in-Arms archetype replaces the mount class feature....

Sister-in-Arms wrote:

A sister-in-arms does not choose an order. Instead, she is considered to belong to both the order of the dragon and the order of the lion, and she gains all of the benefits of both orders (including additional class skills and conditional skill bonuses, additional challenge benefits, and order abilities) at the appropriate levels. At 1st level, a sister-in-arms chooses which order’s edicts she must follow; generally, those of the fanged crown choose the order of the lion’s edicts, while those of the scarlet rose choose the order of the dragon’s edicts.

This ability alters order and replaces mount.

[Emphasis mine]

It's reasonable if you have a good idea what feat you are sharing. Otherwise, probably not.
